Ancona, 10th October 2013 – Another prestigious acknowledgement received by CRN, the Ferretti Group shipyard specialising in the construction and sale of fully-customized displacement megayachts, made of steel and aluminum, ranging from 40 to 90 metres,.
CRN’s 80 metre Chopi Chopi megayacht, built in Ancona, was awarded “Boat of the year” 2013, traditionally organized by the Vela e Motore magazine in collaboration with Ucina-Confindustria Nautica, at the Genoa Boat Show. The award ceremony was held at the Palazzo della Borsa in Genoa. The award has been collected by Ferruccio Rossi – CEO of the Ferretti Group – on behalf pf Lamberto Tacoli, CRN Chairman and CEO.
Chopi Chopi prevailed in the category “Superyacht” beating the other four nominated competitor megayachts which are between 40 and 55 metres in length. The reasons brought forward by the jury awarding the CRN megayacht were very significant:
“The largest superyacht manufactured by CRN, 80 metres long, is a product of great complexity, a city of steel and aluminum that braves the sea with a crew of 30 people, who handle the complex and refined equipment. Studio Zuccon International Project gave the shape and marine qualities to the impressive tonnage of 2,500gt and Laura Sessa applied the tastes of a great art lover, that is, the owner, to its refined spaces.”
Chopi Chopi is light years away from the opulence and the excesses to which the owners have accustomed us, making way for an imprint that is balanced and of good taste which made our yachts famous worldwide.
Many are the characteristics of this vessel which is completely ‘Made in Italy’, but of particular note are the upper deck, which is reserved for the Owner, the large beach club with its 100 square metres, the circular pilot house, the helipad deck etc. The construction quality on a yacht of this size is very high. However, what is more significant is that the cost of the megayacht is considerably lower than that of its northern European competitors”.
Chopi Chopi, which had its world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show last September, was the guest of honour at the Genoa International Boat Show which ended on Sunday, 6th October, where the “flagship” was among the boats exhibited.
CRN Chopi Chopi
“Chopi Chopi” is the 129° pleasure ship manufactured by the Shipyard. With its impressive 80 metres, it is the biggest megayacht ever built by CRN and one of the largest ever manufactured in Italy. Chopi Chopi is an extraordinary showcase for ‘Made in Italy’, since it was entirely built in Ancona and designed by two Italian architecture firms: Studio Zuccon International Project that designed the external shape and the internal layout together with CRN Engineering, and the architect Laura Sessa, who created the style concept and the interior design. This megayacht is a true ambassador for the excellence offered by Italian boating worldwide. Chopi Chopi is a steel and aluminum displacement hull with 5 decks and a sub-lower deck and it can host up to twelve guests, accommodated in six suites, 30 crew members and nine staff.
Designed as a family house, Chopi Chopi is the synthesis, and also the evolution of the typical traits, of the soul and innovation of the CRN ships, which are distinguished for their spectacular volumes, airy spaces, slender shapes and soft lines, their attention to detail and well-being on board, the play of light and, of fundamental importance, the direct contact with the sea. Like all vessels made by CRN, the new flagship expresses the strengths of the Shipyard: the balcony and the open terrace of the VIP cabin on the main deck, the beach club on the lower deck with a stern hatch that turns into a large swimming platform of 100 square metres overlooking the sea and the large windows, which provide extraordinary indoor lighting and guarantee constant visual contact with the sea. In addition, on Chopi Chopi there are some innovative solutions, such as the avantgarde pilot house, which is circular and an exclusive ‘shelter’ for the Owner, with a completely dedicated deck between the upper and the sun deck, where spaces can be used in complete privacy and which can also be reached by air thanks to the helipad at the stern.
